France KerEAUzen project, selected in 2025 under the Carb Aéro call for projects led by ADEME, aims to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF, also widely referred to as CAD in French) in Le Havre, Normandy, using biogenic CO₂ and renewable hydrogen.

With France KerEAUzen, ENGIE will supply a decarbonized fuel to the aviation sector, helping meet the European RefuelEU Aviation blending mandates and accelerate the energy transition.

By enabling domestic production of aviation fuels—replacing current supply largely based on imports of oil and petroleum products from outside Europe—France KerEAUzen strengthens French and European energy sovereignty.

The project is thus fully aligned with the Sustainable Aviation Fuels pillar of the “Nouveaux Systèmes Énergétiques” strategic industry contract for 2024–2027, launched by ministers Éric Lombard, Marc Ferracci and Philippe Tabarot on June 20, 2025. This contract lays the groundwork for an operational 2024–2027 strategy to develop a sustainable and competitive SAF industry in France.”
